Lorries reversed onto lit loading doors at a depot at night
Case studies

The work.
In detail.

In over 20 years I've helped many companies across transport, warehousing, EDI and fulfilment. Here are a few of those projects. Client names are left out on purpose. The detail isn't.

All case studies

Wrapped pallets with shipping labels ready for despatch

ASNs to UK supermarkets, built in-house

A warehouse needed to send advance shipping notices to UK supermarket chains. Rather than pay the WMS vendor's day rate, I built the EDI middleware myself: EDIFACT DESADV over AS2, through my own AS2 gateway.

Pallets being moved across a busy cross-dock

Testing a TMS against a national pallet network

A haulier's TMS had to talk to a national pallet network's system. I ran the end-to-end API testing: forward-manifesting consignments, following every status from collection to delivery, and feeding validation findings back to the network's tech team.

askadash: one dashboard platform, many companies

askadash is my own AI dashboard builder and multi-tenant KPI platform for warehouses and transport: each company on its own subdomain with automatic HTTPS, live KPIs, a late-trunk checker, AI screens, and one rule above all: one company's change never touches another's.

An articulated lorry on a motorway at night

Bringing a bespoke cloud TMS into a haulage business

I've helped many UK haulage and distribution businesses with their systems. On this one I helped implement a bespoke cloud TMS, trained into its transport hub systems, and became its named technical contact with retailers, EDI providers and the WMS vendor.

A long warehouse aisle with racking full of pallets

An EDI gateway customers can fix themselves

A customer EDI gateway portal: customers drop order files by FTP, SFTP or upload, every file is kept byte-for-byte with a format fingerprint, and preflight checks tell them why a file would fail so they can fix it themselves.

A transport control room with screens of routes and jobs

Private AI on my own hardware

My own on-premise AI server runs local language models so client data stays in-house. It powers AI in dashboards, writing assistants, automation and image work.

A fulfilment line at night, with a conveyor, cartons and a label printer

Fulfilment checks before anything ships

Three fulfilment tools: a carton label generator that replaced hand-written case numbers, an Amazon / FBA sales-order checker that compares label counts with accepted quantities, and an FBA shipment checker that compares the sending sheet with the labels.

A map of delivery routes linking depots across the country

Postcode-to-depot imports for a pallet network

A pallet-network master-data importer for transport operations: drag the file in, and every record gets its depot allocated automatically from the postcode.

A warehouse handheld scanner reading a barcode on a carton

Getting more from a leading WMS

Extensions around a leading WMS: handheld picking fixes, and WMS API scripting and tooling for the jobs the standard screens don't cover.

A haulage yard at dawn with trailers lined up

Showground copies of a TMS and a WMS

Offline "showground" clones of a TMS and a WMS, each a front end on a mock back end, for sales demos and for developing safely without ever touching a live system.
